About a month ago part of the Our City Plans team delivered a series of trainings, events, and participatory workshops in the context of the Neuquén Sustainable Cities Programme. This is a collaboration between UN-Habitat and Consejo de Planificación y Acción para el Desarrollo (Copade) (Council of Planning and Action for Development) of Neuquén.

A capacity building session took place on August 1st during which more than 80 government officials, technicians, and representatives from different municipalities of the five microregions received training on Our City Plans methodology, including practical exercises, resources, and best practices to help local governments develop more inclusive and integrated urban planning processes. This will improve their capacity to create policies that enhance social equity and achieve sustainable territorial development. Learn more about this session in this video.

During the same week, the UN-Habitat Argentina team along with the Copade team, visited the Municipality of Las Lajas to develop two sessions with the municipal technical team. The first consisted of reviewing the main findings of the analysis and diagnosis and discussing and mapping the future development of the city. Additionally, a participatory workshop was carried out with more than 60 participants to identify the challenges and strengths of Las Lajas and the city's future vision.

Urban project specialists Daniela Hurtarte and Amparo Arteaga also spoke with the local media on the first day to share information with the community.

The main goal of this process is to create a municipal plan that will serve as a road map for the sustainable and inclusive future development of the city, for which the involvement of the people of Las Lajas represents a crucial component.
